The Freedom Prize will run throughout the school year and features 3 key stages:


1. The call for proposals "Our Freedom Prize 2022" - Until 10 January 2022

Freedom Prize 2022

Young people aged 15-25 are invited to present the person or organisation whose fight for freedom they wish to make known, using the online form.

This is the most crucial stage of the Freedom Prize!

To participate in this call for applications, you just need to propose, as a group, the person or organization of your choice and defend their recent fight for freedom.
The 2022 Freedom Prize can be a person or an organization, known to the media or unknown. He/she must have carried out at least one concrete action in the last three years.

It is up to you to make your choice and find the right arguments. One of the proposals will be awarded the 2022 Freedom Prize!


How to take part

The call for applications "Our Freedom Prize 2022" is open to any group of young people aged 15 to 25 (2 minimum), of any nationality and supervised by an adult point of contact for groups made up of minors. Form your group with your class, your association, your family or your friends!

1. Fill in the call for application form “Our Freedom Prize 2022”.
2. Present your 2022 Freedom Prize candidate, explain his/her fight and set out your arguments for your choice.
3. You have up to 10 January 2022 to complete the form.

And then what happens?

All the "Panel factsheets" summarizing your application (at the end of the form) are sent to the members of the international panel for the 2022 Freedom Prize so that they can examine them in order to deliberate. During the panel's deliberations (week of 7 February 2022) three proposed persons or organizations will be selected and submitted to an online vote from 15 to 25 April 2022. The complete applications will be examined at the request of the jury. The 2022 Freedom Prize will be awarded in Caen in June 2022 during the Normandy World Peace Forum.

2. The deliberations of the international panel of judges  - Week of 7 February 2022

An international panel of judges made up of 24 young people aged 15 to 25 meets in Normandy to consider the applications for “Our Freedom Prize 2022”, choosing three people or organizations as nominees for the online vote

Call for applications to join the panel of judges open to all 15-25 years old from around the world, french or english speaker, from 1st September to 15 November 2021. 

The international panel of judges for the Freedom Prize aims to select three people or organizations from among those proposed in the call for proposals "Our 2022 Freedom Prize".
Composed of 24 young people aged 15 to 25, from Normandy, other Regions of France and every continent, it aims to be representative of the diversity of international youth.

Deliberations took place in Caen (Normandy), during the week of 7 February 2022.


How can you join the international panel?

The call for applications is open to any young person of any nationality, aged 15 to 25 during the days of deliberations from 10 to 13 February 2021.

It is essential to be able to express yourself orally and in writing in French or English (as desired).
It is not necessary to have participated in similar schemes, but the motivation of the candidate is particularly taken into account.


International panel meetings

Jury PL 2020

The international panel of judges will meet in Normandy (France) the week of 7 February 7 2022.

This stay is an opportunity for all the members of the jury to meet and participate in the deliberations. The discovery of various emblematic sites of Norman heritage is also on the program.

All transport, accommodation and catering costs are covered by the organizers.

It is essential to ensure your availability on these dates before any application.

The members of the jury are also invited to the 2022 Freedom Prize award ceremony, which will take place in Caen as part of the Normandy World Peace Forum in June 2022.

3. The online vote -  from 15 March to 25 April 2022

Online voting invites 15-25 year olds from all over the world to nominate the laureate of the 2022 Freedom Prize from among the three people or organizations chosen by the international jury.

A digital platform as well as a presentation of the nominees are available on this site during the voting period.


Participation in each of these stages involves a separate, independent process.
Young people can participate in French or in English.
