Normandie pour la paix
  • About
The Normandy for Peace initiative is the result of the Region’s desire to continue the work which began in 1945 to promote remembrance in Normandy and to become a laboratory for lasting peace. During the World Forum and throughout the year, initiatives, certified projects and events promote the values of peace and freedom which are so important to Normandy.

The D-Day Landings of 6 June 1944 were a decisive turning point in the Second World War: the liberation of France and Europe began on Normandy’s beaches. It was in Normandy, 70 years ago, that today's world began to take shape. Over the last 70 years, our region has established itself as a tourist destination which is closely linked to remembrance: visitors from every country and every generation come here to learn about and remember those who worked for peace.
