European teachers launched a project for the Normandy for Peace forum on the platform eTwinning! This online platform is connecting more than 790 000 teachers in 44 European countries so that their students can discuss with partner classes on particular subjects.

Campus for Peace

The eTwinning project dedicated to Normandy for Peace began on November 2019 to gather youngsters from several countries on peace and its symbols. This project went through the whole school year. This project gathered 5 Norman high schools with 91 French students and 5 European schools with 67 foreign students.

Norman high schools participating :

  • Lycée Augustin Fresnel in Caen (14)
  • Lycée polyvalent Mézeray-Gabriel in Argentan (61)
  • Lycée François 1er in Le Havre (76)
  • Lycée professionnel hôtelier Georges Baptiste in Canteleu (76)

European countries represented:

  • Turkey
  • Ukraine
  • Czech Republic
  • Italia

During this projects, several collaborative activities were conducted by the teachers and their students, and then shared on the platform, the twinspace. The central topic was about peace in Europ, perceived by young people:

  • Icebreaker activities
  • Identification and definition of war threats in Europ (researches and interviews)
  • Discussions on cultural perception of war.
  • Identification of peace symbols by countries.

 

The achievement of the project is the free creation of a peace symbol. These symbols will be presented by the classes involved on Friday 2 October 2020 during the Normandy World Peace Forum.
