From 10 to 13 February 2021, 30 young people aged 15 to 25 and from 17 different nationalities meet by videoconference to study all the “Our Freedom Prize 2021” proposals received from all over the world. This international jury must deliberate and determine collectively which are the 3 people or organizations whose fights are according to them the most representative of a fight for freedom.

30 young people aged 15 to 25, 17 nationalities represented

They are 30 young people aged 15 to 25, including 20 girls and 10 boys. In this jury, 8 are from Normandy (Calvados, Orne, Manche, Eure, Seine-Maritime), 6 come from France (Loire-Atlantique, Rhône, Hérault, Haute-Vienne, Hauts-de-Seine) and 14 come from all over the world (Germany, Spain, Nicaragua, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Italy, Canada, Netherlands, Argentina, India, United States, Poland, Ukraine, Niger, Mexico, Jordan).

 

 

Debate, deliberate and retain only 3 fights for freedom

For several days, they will have to communicate, listen to each other, come together and form one voice in order to study the 251 “Our Freedom Prize” proposals that young people from all over the world have sent. At the end of the deliberations which are being held this year by videoconference, they will have to deliberate and vote for the 3 fights which according to them are the most representative of the fights for freedom in 2021. After a first major phase of elimination which will only retain 10 semi-finalists, the jury will have to decide between them on Saturday 13 February to retain only 3 people or organizations at the end of these deliberations.

To prepare and be operational in their role from Wednesday, the members of the jury have already met by videoconference on Saturday 23 January and 6 February in order to get to know each other but also and above all to develop their common criteria grid which guide during their deliberations.

The deliberations are animated by the International Institute of Human Rights and Peace, through participatory human rights education activities based on respect for the opinion of others and mobilizing skills such as the ability to work in a team, critical thinking or argumentation.
