Débat Iran: at a crossroads Edition 2021 Start of the session 30 September 2021 17h00 End of the session 30 September 2021 18h30 Salle Nacre Iran’s nuclear program has been a central preoccupation for the West in recent years, looming large over its relations with the U.S. and Europe. Under President Donald Trump, tensions between Tehran and Washington, and their respective regional allies, soared as the fate of the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) grew increasingly uncertain. What path will the Biden administration chart for its own policy toward the Islamic Republic? What does that mean for the prospects of diplomacy, on Iran’s nuclear program specifically and other issues of concern for the international community? What are the regional reverberations and implications of such engagement? And what does Iran’s upcoming presidential election mean for its foreign and domestic policy? This panel will bring together experts who can speak to the state of play with regards to U.S.-Iran relations and the nuclear agreement, as well as the regional and internal political dynamics around a key Middle East actor.
