While the governance of the United Nations has been increasingly criticized for the past few decades, the recent conflict between Ukraine and Russia, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, seems to once again underline the powerlessness of the United Nations to resolve or help avoid conflicts. The difficulties of all international institutions to find consensus in order to guarantee peace and human rights, point to an urgent need to rethink the principles and functioning of these organizations. How can the paralysis of the international community in the face of Russia be brought to an end? How can the state of international relations recover from this loss of credibility? Is an evolution of organizations like the UN, NATO or the UE possible?
