Pascal Gollnisch

 

Director of French Pilgrimages in Poland at the age of 24, Father Gollnisch was struck by these spiritual journeys and meetings with local communities. He also has a passion for Eastern churches and an in-depth understanding of their history and unique nature. For thirty years, he has spent much of his holidays backpacking around countries in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. He has in-depth experience of the daily difficulties which are faced by Eastern Christians. In 2012, Pope Benedict XVI granted Pascal Gollnisch the title of Chaplain of His Holiness. Since 2014, Monsignor Pascal Gollnish has served Eastern Christians as Director General of the Œuvre d’Orient since 2010 and Vicar General of the Ordinariate of Eastern Catholics.

In 2015, Monsignor Pascal Gollnisch was ordained as a Chorbishop in the Syriac Catholic Church by Patriarch Ignatius Joseph III Younan and was named as an Archimandrite in the Melkite Greek Catholic Church by Patriarch Gregoroy III Laham at Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre church in Paris. He was awarded these two honours in recognition of Œuvre d’Orient’s work and involvement with Eastern churches. He is a Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite and author of Chrétiens d’Orient, résister sur notre terre (Eastern Christians, Resisting on Earth) which was published in the Documents collection by Editions Le Cherche-Midi in 2016.
