Konstantin von Eggert

Konstantin von Eggert is a Russian journalist and political commentator. In 1992-1998, he was diplomatic correspondent then foreign assistant editor of the daily Izvestia. His areas of expertise included the Middle East, Iraq, Iran, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and the Balkans. From 2002 to 2008, he was appointed head of the Moscow office for the BBC's Russian service and then editor-in-chief of the Kommersant FM radio station in 2012-2013. He is now presenter and columnist of an independent channel in Russia, Dojd TV. He is also a regular columnist for Deutsche Welle, writing about Russia and the post-Soviet space. Between 2009 and 2010, he worked as Vice President for Public Affairs of ExxonMobil Russia Inc. In 2008, for services at the BBC, Queen Elizabeth II appointed him an honorary member of the Order of the British Empire. In the same year, President Valdas Adamkus awarded him the Cross of the Commander of the Order of Merit in Lithuania.
