A global health crisis, a climate emergency, new nuclear threats: the 21st century’s security challenges emphasise the importance of co-ordinated global solutions to ensure peace and security. 75 years after the founding of the United Nations, the institution is increasingly criticized for its limitations in terms of what it can achieve and how it works. What future is there for multilateralism? Can the UN evolve or are there more inclusive alternatives?
