Jean-Christophe Bas has been the CEO of the Dialogue of Civilizations ( DOC)  Institute since September 2018. DOC  is a premier  “ multilateral think tank”  based in Berlin with offices in Delhi, Moscow, Beijing, Brussels and Buenos Aires. DOC’s goal is to forge shared worldviews through dialogue , and to contribute to a fair, sustainable and peaceful world. To achieve this goal, DOC uses its unique convening power to bring perspectives from all parts of the world in dialogue and the emergence of shared responses to global challenges  DOC has the conviction that globalization is not just about setting economic, financial and trade standards, it should have humankind, culture and civilization at his heart. 
Prior to DOC, Jean-Christophe has held senior policy positions with intergovernmental organisations over the past twenty years. Previously he was Head of Strategy and Development at the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (2008-2014), Head of Policy Dialogue at the World Bank (1999-2008 ), Director of Democratic Citizenship and Participation at the Council of Europe (2014-2015), and the first Executive Director of the Aspen Institute in France (1994-1999). He is the author of Europe a la carte, which addresses the issue of European identity.
