Alexandra De Hoop Scheffer

 

Dr. Alexandra De Hoop Scheffer  is a senior transatlantic fellow and serves as the director of the Paris office of The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF). From Paris and in close cooperation with all GMF’s offices, she has initiated and leads two major programs: The Transatlantic Security Program and the Transatlantic Strategy Group on the Future of U.S. Global Leadership.

From 2009 to 2011, she served as a special adviser on the United States and transatlantic relations at the Centre d'Analyse et de Prévision (the Policy Planning Staff) of the French Foreign Ministry. From 2010 to 2013, she was an advisor to USEUCOM Commander and SACEUR, Admiral James Stavridis, as part of the Next Generation Advisory Panel. She is currently an associate professor at Sciences Po Paris and the Euro-American Campus in Reims. She holds a Ph.D. in political science (Sciences Po Paris) and was awarded a scholarship from the French Defense Ministry to conduct her Ph.D. research.

She is the author of the book Hamlet en Irak (CNRS éditions, 2007) and the editor of the Paris-based journal Politique Américaine, the focus of which is the U.S. domestic and foreign policies and transatlantic relations.
