Anita Khachaturova

Anita Khachaturova is a doctoral researcher at the Free University of Brussels (ULB). She is conducting research on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in which she explores the internal dynamics that run through the Armenian society of Nagorno-Karabakh in the face of the defeat of the 2020 war and the disintegration of the de facto state. She is particularly interested in the emotions and effects in the expression of political identities. To this end, she has carried out several ethnographic field surveys in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. At the same time, she is conducting collective research into the forced displacement of Armenians from the Hadrut region, using the mental map method. Anita holds a master’s degree in international relations (ULB, 2016) and an LLM in international law with a specialisation in the law of armed conflict (ULB, 2017). She is a member of the War Experience Research Centre (MSH) and the Centre for Independent Social Research Armenia.
