Ioan Mircea Paşcu

 

Ioan Mircea Paşcu MEP is Vice President of the European Parliament and S&D Coordinator for Security and Defence. Before 2007, he was Observer in the European Parliament. Since 2007, as Vice Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET) and as S&D Coordinator for Security and Defence (SEDE), he has been working on CFSP/CSDP matters, including as the European Parliament’s Rapporteur for the European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP), EU-NATO relations, the Annual Report on CSDP, mutual defence and security clauses and the strategic situation in the Black Sea. Since 1990, he has held high political and public office positions, including as Minister of Defence of Romania (2000-2004), contributing substantially to the admission of Romania into NATO and has been professor of International Relations at the National University of Political and Administrative Studies.
