Denis Redonnet studied to be an economist and was a commercial banker in London before joining the European Commission in 1995.

Since then, he has held roles in the economy and finance and internal market directorates-general.

He was a member of the cabinet of Pascal Lamy (European Commissioner for Trade) and deputy head of the cabinet of Peter Mandelson (European Commissioner for Trade).

He then managed the unit responsible for strategy and the unit responsible for multilateral commercial policy and the WTC.

From 2015 to 2020, he was director of multilateral and legal affairs and goods trade in the Directorate General for Trade of the European Commission.

In July 2020, he was appointed deputy director-general/European manager of the Directorate General for Trade of the European Commission.
