Nancy Snow

Nancy Snow is Emerita Professor of Communications at California State University, Fullerton recognized for her work in persuasion, influence, public diplomacy and propaganda studies. She is an opinion writer for Nikkei Asia and Nikkei. Snow holds a Ph.D. from The American University School of International Service in Washington, D.C., cited by Foreign Policy magazine as a Top 10 International Relations program in the world. In AY 2022-2023, Snow was Distinguished Visiting Professor of Strategic Communications and Advisor in the Schwarzman Scholars Program at Tsinghua University. An 8-year Japan resident, she is a Fellow at the Institute of Contemporary Japanese Studies (2014-present), Temple University Japan, and Senior Advisor to the global strategic communications consultancy Kreab in its Tokyo office. She is a member of the editorial board for the NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence journal, Defence Strategic Communications. Faculty appointments include an endowed chair, Walt Disney Faculty Chair in Global Media, at Schwarzman College (2020); Pax Mundi (“Distinguished”) Professor of Public Diplomacy at Kyoto University of Foreign Studies (2016-2022); Abe Fellow and Visiting Research Professor in the Institute for Media and Communications Research at Keio University (2013-2015); Fulbright Professor at Sophia University (2012); Visiting Associate Professor of Public Diplomacy in the S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University (2008-2010); Visiting Adjunct Professor in the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism (2002-2012); Senior Research Fellow, USC Center for Public Diplomacy (2003-2008); visiting professorships in Israel and Malaysia, and guest lectures in over 30 countries. Snow was a Presidential Management Fellow at the U.S. Information Agency and Department of State and Fulbright student to the Federal Republic of Germany.
