Gerry Taama, born February 2, 1975 in Siou in northern Togo, is a Togolese politician.

He completed his schooling in Togo, followed by a scientific baccalaureate in 1995 at the university of Lomé, he prepared a license in sociology of communication before joining the special Military School Saint-Cyr in 1999. He graduated from this school as well as master’s degree in international humanitarian law. After specialization in saumur in armored weapons and cavalry, Gerry Taama returned to Togo to serve in the Togolese army as an officer , both in an armored regiment and in peace keeping missions, in particular as an echelon officer and Commander of Platoon of the Togolese contingent of the first wave of ONUCI in 2004.

In 2008, Gerry Taama left the army and embarked on entrepreneurship. He now runs a company for the safety of peaple and property, a company that promotes renewable energies as well as an establishment promoting local food products.

At the same time, he published his novel « Combatants course » at ‘’l’harmattan’’ editions in 2009, (literary prize of the Saint-Cyrienne in 2010), and « barracks chronicles » at the same editions in 2011. Gerry Taama chairs the New Togolese commitment, an opposition polotical party created on april 26, 2012. He and his party are in the formation of all the groups of oppostion political parties in the country between 2012 and 2015. The Arc-en-ciel coalition and the CAP2015 in particular. His party will run for the legislative elections in 2013, without however, bringing in deputies to the assembly. In 2015, Gerry Taama is a candidate for the presidential elections, ranking fourth out of the five present.

With the outbreak of the new current political crisis Togo, Gerry Taama and his party, after having joined the street demonstrations for a polotical consensus. Very attached to pragmatism and humanism, he joined forces with Togolese other leaders of the Togolese political class to create the Common Group of Centrists, which they present as a current political license. He is the secretary of this group in december.

In 2018, Gerry Taama was elected deputy with diploma from the National Assembly. In February 2019, he became president of the parliamentary group NET-PDP.

Gerry Taama is married with two children.
