
Roland Theis is a Franco-German politician (CDU) and jurist. Since 2022, he has been a member of the Landtag of Saarland again, where he previously served from 2009 to 2017. From 2017 to 2022, he was Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice of Saarland and the representative of Saarland for European Union affairs. Currently, he is a member of the Landtag of Saarland.
After studying law and political science at the University of Saarland and the University Paul Cézanne Aix-Marseille III, Theis passed his first state law exam with distinction in 2005 and his assessor exam in 2008. He was a scholarship holder of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.
Theis worked as a jurist at Landesbank Saar and was a lecturer at the University of Saarland, particularly in public law and media law. He is also a lecturer in public law at the University of Lorraine in Nancy and has taught, among other subjects, German administrative law at the University Paris II Panthéon-Assas.
Since the summer semester of 2022, he has been teaching at the Institute of Political Studies of Paris (SciencesPo). He is a graduate of the Marshall Memorial Fellowship of the German Marshall Fund as well as the American Jewish Committee.
