Joana Toro is a Colombian self-taught photographer based in Bogotá and New York. His photographic documentary work explores issues of immigration, human rights and identity. Her goal is to relay unrepresented voices to generate public discussions. She sees her camera as an instrument of social change. She worked as a senior photographer for Colombian media before emigrating to the United States in 2011 to pursue her documentary and artist career.
