Abdoulaye Bathily

 

Abdoulaye Bathily is a Senegalese historian, scholar and politician, several times deputy and minister under the presidencies of Abdou Diouf and Macky Sall. He has been the leader of the Democratic League / Movement for the Labor Party for 29 years.

Author of a thesis on the kingdom of Galam, supported at the University of Birmingham in 19754, he became professor of modern and contemporary history at the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar.

He is Minister of the Environment in the government of Habib Thiam, Minister of Energy and Mines in that of Moustapha Niasse in 2000, and Vice-President of the National Assembly.
