With over 12 years’ experience in this sector, Hon Betty Oyella Bigombe is an internationally recognized, awardwinning expert in conflict resolution, armed conflict mediation, and post-conflict peacemaking. Her areas of expertise include: peace-building, trainer of mediators, reconciling fractured communities, and demobilizing and reintegrating ex-combatants. She leads initiatives that extend peace and reconciliation to the grass-root communities in war zones, refugee camps, and violent conflicts, as well. Her proficiency in this sector is applied to develop solutions and strategies that stimulate long-term peacebuilding goals while also achieving short term priorities. Her ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to build consensus and achieve demonstrable results, in the most difficult environments, is among the attributes that make her a critical cog in driving conflict resolution in Africa with special emphasis on the current work she is doing in facilitating the South Sudan Peace process.
