Laurent Bonnefoy

Researcher (CR1) at the CNRS, assigned to CERI since January 2013, Laurent Bonnefoy is a political scientist and Arabist, specialist in Salafist movements and the contemporary Arabian Peninsula. He is deputy principal investigator of the European Research Council Advanced Grant "When authoritarianism fails in the Arab world (WAFAW - 2013-2017)" led by François Burgat.

Associate researcher at the French Center of Archeology and Social Sciences of Sanaa (CEFAS) where he spent a total of four years between 2001 and 2009, he was researcher MAE at the French Institute of the Near East (Ifpo) and responsible from its Palestinian branch from 2010 to 2012.

Doctor of Political Science - International Relations (2007), Sciences Po (2001), former consultant for the International Crisis Group (2009), was post-doc ANR at the Institute of Research and Studies on the Arab and Muslim world (IREMAM) (2008-2009) and also taught in Tours and Sanaa.

 

He is the author of "From Arabia Felix to war".
