Julien Buot is Director of the association Agir pour un Tourisme Responsable (Acting for Responsible Tourism or ATR) and Secretary of the association Acteurs du Tourisme Durable (Sustainable Tourism Stakeholders or ATD).  After the publication of a report on the ethics of tourism for the French National Tourism Council in 2001 and before developing a career in responsible and charitable tourism, he worked in remembrance tourism in Normandy (2003-2005). He was responsible for welcoming Battle of Normandy veterans during the events to mark the 60th anniversary of D-Day and participated in the organisation of this international event by promoting the involvement of local residents in commemorative events, encouraging interactions between generations and ensuring that the benefits of these events were felt throughout Normandy in 2004. He focused on tourism to promote peace which involved local residents and was sustainable in nature, in terms of time and space.
