Kamel Chabane is a history and geography teacher at Gustave Flaubert Secondary School in Paris.
He leads numerous educational projects and initiatives, particularly on socially sensitive historical issues, with the aim of promoting citizenship education, the transmission of memory across generations, and better community living.
He has therefore created a series of commemorative murals at his school and organised several trips to iconic memorial sites with his pupils.
Every year, he invites witnesses (Holocaust survivors, victims of the Algerian War or recent terrorist attacks) who bring diverse and essential memories to help build a genuine shared history in which all pupils can find a sense of belonging.
He has also written academic and educational articles for journals and books, before collaborating with Benoit Falaize on a book entitled *Parce que chaque élève compte* (Because Every Pupil Counts), published by Editions de l'Atelier in 2022, which showcases projects and initiatives led by the *Territoires vivants de la République* collective, which brings together numerous education professionals.
