From 2002 to 2007, Pierre de Bousquet of Florian headed the Territorial Surveillance Directorate in charge of counterintelligence and counterterrorism. In January 2009, he was appointed prefect off-class, prefect of Pas-de-Calais. In 2012, he was appointed prefect of the Haute-Normandie region and prefect of Seine-Maritime in the Languedoc-Roussillon region and prefect of Hérault. In June 2016, he was appointed CEO of Civipol Conseil.

In 2017, he is appointed National Coordinator of intelligence and the fight against terrorism by President Emmanuel Macron at the Council of Ministers on June 29, 2017. He will be surrounded by about fifteen analysts from the ministries of the Interior, Defense, Justice and the private sector. He will participate in the Defense Council every Wednesday at the Elysee and will be responsible for fluidity of responsiveness and information to the President of the Republic.
