Benjamin Hautecouverture is a Senior Research Fellow at the Foundation for Strategic Research (Paris, France). He is also technical director at Expertise France (for the European Union's Arms Trade Treaty Outreach Program). He is a senior fellow at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute. He is a founder of the European Union Consortium on Non-Proliferation and Disarmament. He has been a lecturer at Science Po Paris and a lecturer at the École Polytechnique de Paris.

For the past twenty years, his areas of expertise have included the study of strategic relations between states, nuclear deterrence, non-proliferation and disarmament (weapons of mass destruction and conventional weapons), the phenomenon of nuclear proliferation, nuclear and ballistic proliferation crises. He also works on nuclear security, the chemical weapons prohibition regime and the challenges and prospects of the European Union in the field of security and defence.

He is the author of several collaborative books and regularly publishes articles on major international security issues. His most recent collaborative book is Arms Control and Europe - New Challenges and Prospects for Strategic Stability, Springer, 2022, 180p.
