The Malian Prime Minister Moussa Mara is 44 years old and is married with 5 children. He worked as a chartered accountant from 1997 until he joined the Malian government in 2013 as Minister of Urban Planning and Urban Policy. He became Prime Minister in April 2014, becoming the youngest Prime Minister in Mali’s history at the age of 39.He was also the mayor of Commune 4 in Bamako between 2009 and 2013. He was elected the Member of Parliament for this commune in April 2020.

The Prime Minister capitalises on a wealth of experience as head of the largest audit firm in Mali and has several other high-level roles in Africa (member of jury panels, associate professor, member of international accounting organisations, etc.). 

Moussa Mara has written several books and articles on his areas of expertise, as well as on political issues, governance, security and development. Mr Mara regularly participates in international events in Africa, Europe, Asia and America.
