Michel Taubmann

Michel Taubmann, born in 1956 in Paris, is a Franco-Israeli journalist committed to Jewish-Arab dialogue. After working as a freelance journalist for various newspapers, he worked at FR3 from 1982 to 1989. A lecturer in journalism, mainly at the Centre de Formation et de Perfectionnement du Journalisme for three years, he was involved in the founding of the European television channel ARTE in 1992. He remained there for 16 years, first as a reporter and later as head of the channel’s Paris news bureau. After founding and editing the magazines *Le Meilleur des Mondes* and *Building*, he moved to Israel in 2012 with his wife, the Reverend Florence Taubmann, who was then president of the French Jewish-Christian Friendship Association. Both subsequently took Israeli citizenship. He was involved in the founding of the international television channel i24News, where he co-headed the French editorial team for 18 months before becoming a columnist there. Michel Taubmann is the author of around ten books, including biographies of Philippe Séguin and Dominique Strauss-Kahn, but above all works on the Middle East: Iraq, Year One; The Secret History of the Iranian Revolution; The Bomb and the Koran; and Iran: The Hour of Choice. Dividing his time between Israel and France, Michel Taubmann now works on an occasional basis as an editor at Éditions de l’Archipel and as a political commentator on the i24News television channel. However, he devotes most of his time to the journal *Politique Internationale*, where he is responsible for the Middle East section, and above all to the Shalom Salam Jaffa movement, which he founded in November 2023 alongside other Israeli citizens—both Jewish and Palestinian—and which has since evolved into a transnational movement for Jewish-Arab dialogue.
