Hubert Védrine


Hubert Védrine is a diplomat and French politician member of the Socialist Party.

Appointed to Conseil d'État in 1986, he later became Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Jospin government, from 1997 to 2002.

In 2005, he was named a member of the High Council for the Alliance of Civilizations by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. He took part in 2007, alongside Nicolas Hulot, Alain Juppé and Edgar Morin in the committee preparing the Paris Conference on the Environment to lay the foundations for a future United Nations Environment Organization.

Since 2003, he is a consultant and teaches at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris.

Hubert Védrine is also an independent administrator for the LVMH Group, a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of International and Strategic Relations (IRIS) and a member of the Board of Directors of the Aspen Institute.
