Michel Wieviorka

Michel Wieviorka is the Director of Studies at EHESS. He has conducted research and published works, several of which have been translated into multiple languages, on violence, terrorism, social movements, democracy and racism. He has had key international (as president of the International Sociological Association, 2006-2010 and as member of the Scientific Council of the European Research Council, 2015_32020) and national (as president of the Maison des Sciences Foundation of Man in Paris, 2009-2020) institutional responsibilities. He is the editor of the journals SOCIO and VIOlence: An International Journal. He published a Manifesto for the social sciences (with Craig Calhoun, in 2015) and a report on the French human and social sciences in Europe and internationally for the French Minister of Research and Higher Education.
