Whether as an individual or as a member of a group, recognising each party's involvement and role in a past conflict is a necessary step in building a common future. Is it imperative to admit one's responsibility in order to overcome trauma, open dialogue and build lasting peace? By focusing, on the one hand, on the civil war in Lebanon and, on the other hand, on the consequences of British colonisation in the Middle East, the various speakers will testify to the importance of this process in building their commitment to peace.
