Sebastian Brixey-Williams is the Director of BASIC, a London-based think tank working to prevent major power conflict and facilitate the transition to a more secure and sustainable global security system.

A speaker, writer, mediator, and facilitator, Sebastian contributes to global policymaking and dialogue to build international trust, reduce nuclear risks and advance the disarmament agenda within an era of political instability and profound ecological crisis. Over the past decade, his practice has focused on fostering a more resilient conversation about states’ responsibilities (and legal obligations) in relation to nuclear weapons.

Sebastian briefed international policy forums, including the United Nations Secretary-General’s Advisory Board on Nuclear Disarmament, the UN-ROK Jeju Process, three UK All-Party Parliamentary Groups (on Drones, on Global Security and Non-Proliferation, and on Future Generations), and the UK House of Lords International Relations Committee. He has spoken at British and overseas universities including the University of London, Oxford, Warwick, and York.
