Éric Danon

Former diplomat and business executive, Éric Danon is now an international consultant in his areas of expertise: geostrategy, defense (air and space, military nuclear), security (counter-terrorism and organized crime), and cooperation with developing countries. He serves on the boards of numerous public and private foundations and associations, and teaches at several universities in France and abroad (CNAM Paris, Nice, La Roche-sur-Yon, Sciences Po Lille, and Abu Dhabi).

As the French Ambassador to Israel from 2019 to 2023, he regularly appears in the media and as a speaker on the situation in the Middle East. Previously, Éric Danon held positions such as Deputy Director-General for Political and Security Affairs at the Quai d’Orsay from 2016 to 2019, Director-General of the Higher Council for Strategic Education and Research from 2013 to 2016, Diplomatic Advisor to Interpol (2012-2013), and Ambassador for Disarmament in Geneva from 2008 to 2012. He was Chief of Staff to the Minister of Cooperation and Francophonie (1999-2000), before moving to the private sector for seven years to implement good governance, transport infrastructure, and public health projects in Francophone Africa.

He is married to Marie-Christine Dupuis-Danon (HEC 93, IHEDN 69th PolDef) and father of five children.

Education: Alumnus of the École Normale Supérieure de St Cloud (1977-82), agrégé in physics (1980), graduate of Sciences Po Paris (1983), and alumnus of the École Nationale d’Administration (1984-86, Denis Diderot class).

Honors: Knight of the Legion of Honor (2019) and the National Order of Merit (2010).
