Plénière

Formerly, peace was almost exclusively threatened by state violence, that of neighbors and rivals, carried out by so-called ‘regular’ armies.

Today, it is quite different: the violence that weighs on the international scene is of various kinds. Sometimes linked to economic interests, social disputes, ethnic or religious differences, they are often exacerbated by a sense of humiliation, ancestral resentments, and global changes that generate misunderstanding and fear. Is the world on the verge of tipping over?

From Europe to Africa, through the Near and Middle East, a sense of powerlessness dominates in the face of these global changes. Understanding these new forms of violence and grasping their sequences allows us to better prevent and control them. Taking the time to analyze this unprecedented landscape and understand its political implications is imperative to break the status quo and build the peace of tomorrow.
