Hervé Moritz

Hervé Moritz has been presiding over the European Movement – France since December 2022, an organization that brings together civil society engaged for Europe in France. It unites associations, volunteers within local sections, and qualified personalities to promote understanding of Europe and its issues, dialogue between decision-makers and citizens, and citizen participation in European construction. Hervé Moritz has also been a member of the Bureau of the European Movement – International since December 2023 under the presidency of Guy Verhofstadt. 

Originally from Alsace and sensitive to the European cause, Hervé Moritz joined the European Movement in 2011. He became editor-in-chief of Taurillon, the association’s online magazine (2014-2016). From 2017 to 2019, Hervé Moritz was president of the Young Europeans – France, the youth branch of the European Movement. A doctoral candidate at the University of Strasbourg under the supervision of Sylvain Schirmann and at the University of Genoa under the supervision of Daniela Preda, he conducts research in the field of the history of European integration. 

He is currently writing a doctoral thesis on “the Crocodile Club and its evolutions (1980-1986)”. Since 2022, he has been teaching the history of international relations at Sciences Po Strasbourg. Starting in the fall of 2024, he will be teaching a course on the history of the European idea at the Catholic University of Lille. 

Hervé Moritz has also been a press correspondent for Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace since 2012.
