Nagham Hasan

Dr. Nagham born and raised as a Yazidian woman. A gynecologist by profession from College of Medicine in Mosul, she hailed from a family lineage of educationists. Grandfather was a teacher and school manger; father a teacher; two brothers are lawyers and little sister also a medical doctor.

Dr. Nagham worked as a volunteer in some of organizations, including UNFPA, as an activist for women rights and support of children. She is particularly proud of her humanitarian work when Sinjar was attacked by ISIL on 3rd August 2014, when she would go directly to the displaced people who could not come to the hospital to help them medically. She would treat and refer them to hospital if they need be.

The biggest  and most important and intrigued in her life was when she heard that there were girls’ survivors who had escaped from ISIL captivity. She decided to help them since September 2014 until now, supporting the victims of ISIL in many projects areas. In the woman survivors’ center which was supported by UNFPA and health directorate of Duhok, Dr. Nagham treated more than 1200 cases of survivors, and visiting them in the camps from time to time and encouraged them to be treated in the center.

Dr. Nagham has attended many workshops in Iraq, Europe, and the US to be voice of all women in need in the world to support women’s right, gender equality, freedom of religions all over the world as well as prevention of sexual slavery.
