The Military School Strategic Research Institute (IRSEM) is a research institute attached to the Directorate General of International Relations and Strategy (DGRIS) of the Ministry of Defense.

Associating academics and military, the IRSEM conducts five types of missions: conducting internal studies, contributing to strengthening the link between defense and strategic research, participating in higher military education, supporting the influence of French strategic thinking at the national and international levels and participate in the institutional, public and academic debate on defense and security issues.
