Hervé Morin is a French politician; he was Minister of Defence from 2007 to 2010.

During the French Presidency of the European Union, from July to December 2008, he participated in the launch of a"pooling & sharing" initiative for defence capabilities, the creation of a European General Staff and the launch of a Defence Erasmus programme between military schools and training centers.

As Minister of Defence, he also voted the law of January 5, 2010, known as the "Morin Law", on the recognition of victims of French nuclear tests in French Polynesia and the Algerian Sahara. This law, which recognizes historically and officially the health damage caused by nuclear experiments, will later see its geographical area extended.

Since 2016, he is president of the Regional Council of Normandy.He is also the president of the association Régions de France.
