Marc Semo, deputy editor of the Idées-Débats pages at Le Monde, is a historian by training. He joined Libération in 1983 as a correspondent in Rome and became a senior reporter in 1989, covering the fall of the Wall and its consequences in the East and the wars in the Middle East and the former Yugoslavia, as well as a number of reports in Turkey. He became the editor-in-chief for international affairs in 2010, and he was commissioned in 2016 by Le Monde to cover diplomatic news.
