Standing at the crossroads of the Middle East, Europe and the Caucasus, Turkey is seeking to grow its influence and impose itself as a regional power in a region already dominated by power struggles. The President of Turkey is turning his back on diplomacy and intervening in Libya, prompting growing tensions with his NATO allies France and Greece. What are his aims? How should we interpret Turkey’s position on the international stage? And how can the country play a role in resolving the conflicts of which it is a part?
