Pascal Drouhaud

 

Pascal Drouhaud is an expert in geopolitics, associate researcher at the Choiseul Institute and president of the LATFRAN association (Latin America-France). A specialist in Latin America and a foreign press correspondent, he lived in El Salvador in the early 1990s. He has traveled the Latin American continent from Guatemala to Colombia, from Argentina to Venezuela, from Peru in Cuba.

He witnessed the negotiations initiated between the FARC and the Colombian government in 1998 and 2002 and went to the peace zone to meet the leaders of the guerrillas. Between 2002 and 2006, he was director of international relations and European affairs of the Union for a Popular Movement (UMP), under the presidencies of Alain Juppé and Nicolas Sarkozy. Between 2007 and 2017, he held the position of Director for Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa in the international management of the Alstom-GE industrial group. In 2012 and 2017, he is a candidate in the parliamentary elections in the second constituency of the French established outside France (Latin America-Caribbean).

He has written numerous articles on the democratization and economic situation of Latin America in specialized foreign policy journals. He conducts interviews with international political figures and is the author of a book on FARC. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Advanced Studies of Latin America (IHEAL).
