Kabiné Komara

Kabiné Komara is an international banker who works on humanitarian, environmental and development projects. His international studies (in France and the United States) have allowed him to work in varied countries and industries such as mining and banking. Recognised as one of the one hundred people who have contributed to fostering progress in Africa, Mr Komara is also the former Prime Minister of Guinea. During his time in office, he helped Guinea avoid the devastating consequences of the financial crisis during the key period from late 2008 to early 2010, which earned him recognition from his country and the international community. During his four years as head of the Senegal River Basin Development Organization (OMVS), Mr Komara transformed the OMVS into one of the top organisations of its kind, and served as President of the International Network of Basin Organizations (INBO) from 2013 to 2014.

He now works as an international consultant in funding strategies and hydro-diplomacy. He serves on the board of directors of several international foundations, including the Global Fairness Initiative (GFI), the Brazzaville Foundation for Peace and Conservation, the International Action Council, and the Initiative for the Future of Great Rivers (IAGR).

He has received a number of awards, including ‘Commander of the Order of Merit of the Lion’, one of Senegal’s highest honours, bestowed on him in 2017 by President Macky Sall, and the ‘Oscar Best African Manager’ Award in 2014 in France.
