Patrick MAURUS is Professor Emeritus of Korean Language and Literature at INALCO (Paris).

He is a fellow (1975), Doctor of Letters (1985), Doctor of Korean Studies (1994) and is qualified to direct research (1999).

He is the founding director of the collection Lettres coréennes, éditions Actes Sud (1989) and a translator (Actes Sud, Gallimard, Hémisphères, Matin Calme, Actes Sud junior, Thierry Magnier, St Germain des Près).

He is also responsible for the CRIC, Centre de Recherches internationales sur les Corées, founded with André Fabre (1999) Director of the international review of Korean studies tan'gun (published by Racine since 1999, then by L'Harmattan since 2006), as well as the websites revuetangun.com (2017) and voyagestangun.fr (2019), and is the manager of the radio podcast, tangun (2020) https://audioblog.arteradio.com/blog/150786/radio-tangun

 

He was Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Action at the French Embassy in Seoul (2002-2004) and Director of the French Cultural Centre in Seoul, 2003-2004

He has taught in Beijing (Language Institute), Seoul (Koryo U., Ehwa, Sungkyungwan) and Pyongyang (Kim Il Sung U.)
