Youth debate - Booking only available for schools
The Charter of the United Nations entrusts the Security Council with responsibility for maintaining peace and international security. Yet as the number and diversity of conflicts grows, destabilising peace in the process, the UN’s effectiveness is called into question. In this session, run in partnership with Canopé and Sciences Po Le Havre, participants took part in a simulated crisis-management exercise within the Security Council. When a conflict breaks out between two nations, the ultimate aim is to prevent war.
