World peace and global security: how to govern peace? This burning issue will be the heart of the 4th edition of the Normandy World Peace Forum. Each year, more than 200 recognized speakers and thousands of participants, including many high school students, attend the Forum in the historical place of the Abbaye-aux-Dames in Caen. On the agenda: conferences, thematic debates, evening events, youth events, testimonies, a pop up bookstore, exhibitions, meetings with speakers, NGO and assocations... Paths for reflection and action will be identified to better govern peace with two major issues: Why does peace is slipping out of our hand? And how to have it back? Two conferences will adress those topics as well as two evening events, one of which on education and culture for peace in partnership with the French representative to UNESCO. During these 2 days, 20 debates (4 dedicated to young people) will deepen the conferences and discuss hot topics with experts and political or civil representatives' views. Opening all day long, the Village for Peace will offer meeting areas, exhibitions, a pop up bookstore, presentation of civil society's projects, concerts during the midday and the evening... Initiatives with the National Audiovisual Institute, Open Diplomacy (Parliamentaries for Peace), The Cercles des Economistes and the European Parliamentary Research Service (the Normandy Index measuring the threats against peace and democracy in the world) will aslo be highlighted during the Forum. And, as always, youth events: The 3rd edition of the Freedom Prize, which will award a person or an organisation committed in an exemplary fight for freedom. Walk The Global Walk, which will gather hundreds of young Norman people to conclude their works on the United Nations Objective of Sustainable Development n°16: "Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels" Free event, open to all For additional information, you can read this document on the 2020 highlights and the perspectives for the 2021 Forum.
