Sahel: towards local governance of security?

Despite the involvement of many international actors in military and development fields, the security situation in the Sahel keeps on worthening, and hence causes many civilian victims. To overcome this collective deadlock, we may reflect on alternative solutions promoted by local actors, from ad hoc negotiations between Communities representatives and some jihadist groups (Mali) to mobilizing self-defense groups (Burkina Faso), including peacebuilding efforts by authorities (Niger) and multilateral initiatives established by African organisations (G5/Sahel and African Union).
