Thomas Friang is the founder and Director-general of the Open Diplomacy Institute. He started his career as an economist in financial regulation at the French Central Bank before shifting to political strategy advisory. In this capacity, Thomas created the G7, G8 and G20 working groups on future generations and chaired their summits in 2011 and 2019. Since 2020, Thomas Friang co-chairs the Parliamentarians for Peace programme.
