Chirinne Ardakani

Chirinne Ardakani is a lawyer. She practices criminal law and immigration law, and particularly defends political dissidents around the world, including feminist and anti-death penalty activist Narges Mohammadi, recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Firmly committed to the rights of the defense and human rights, especially for exiled persons, she views her practice as a concrete tool for mobilization in favor of democratic struggles and political freedoms.

In September 2022, in response to the murder of Jina Mahsa Amini, an Iranian Kurd, by the Iranian morality police, she founded the association Iran Justice. Bringing together lawyers, jurists, and human rights activists, the collective inventories, documents, and qualifies the abuses of the Iranian regime with the aim of one day bringing its perpetrators to justice, to end the impunity of state crimes in Iran. Skilled in strategic litigation, Iran Justice is behind several legal actions, including multiple complaints against Iranian dignitaries and submissions to the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention.

Iran Justice advocates for international recognition and the criminalization of gender apartheid to end the legal segregation and persecutions that prevail in some states of the world based on gender or sexual orientation.

A women’s rights activist, Chirinne Ardakani is also the co-author of the collective work “Les iraniennes, de 1979 à 2024” published in September 2024 (édition des femmes Antoinette Fouque), a political book that traces the struggles of Iranian feminist movements through the ages.
