How can we help those who remained? How can we fight for change by working in civil society? These are the questions posed by many Russians who have left their country since the aggression in Ukraine and the tens of thousands of Turkish and Kurdish opponents who fled  repression after the failed coup in July 2016. Although Putin’s Russia is not Erdogan’s Turkey, where the electoral 
process is still possible, these exiles face similar but different challenges.
